A Holiday Message from Bill McCusker, Founder & CEO of Fathers & Families, Inc.
“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Warren Buffett
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Winston S. Churchill
“Nothing quite excites the adult mind as the conscious decision to do something important.” Anonymous
Along with the lights, songs, decorations, gift giving, family and friends, and the celebration of the birth of one very influential baby in Bethlehem, the holidays offer a unique chance to take stock of the previous year and to look with renewed enthusiasm to the year ahead. As I retire at yearend, I will be looking back on a career of almost forty years with a great deal of gratitude for so many terrific bosses, colleagues, employees and friends from the U.S. Peace Corps, Arthur Andersen, Right Management Consultants, Manpower, Pepper Hamilton and KPMG.
And I will be as excited as a newly-hired green bean because I’ll have more time in 2019 to devote to Fathers & Families, Inc. It will be a special year of new ideas, writing, speaking, events, initiatives, partners and collaborators – all while keeping rooted to our mission…and as always not taking a nickel from the company along the way.
I invite you to join me. At this time of year, all of us are all being deluged with charitable solicitations from worthy organizations of all stripes — another sign of the season. To me, it’s hard to think of a cause as important and potentially impactful as addressing the crisis of fatherlessness, the root cause of so many other problems faced by kids, moms, dads, our communities and our country.
My sincere thanks for the generosity of those who have supported Fathers & Families to date. And I thank in advance those who will join our mission-critical efforts and seize the even bigger opportunity ahead.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and Happy New Year from Fathers & Families.
